If you are reporting a problem
Including these makes it far more likely to be fixed quickly:
- What you were doing when it happened
- What you expected, and what happened instead
- Your phone model and Android version
- The app version, from Settings
- Whether it happens every time, or once
If the app saved a crash report, you can find it in Settings → Data and privacy. Crash reports are never sent automatically — you have to attach one yourself, and you can read exactly what is in it first.
Questions that come up
Where are my photographs stored?
In the app’s private storage on your phone. Not your camera roll, not a shared folder, and never uploaded. Other apps cannot see them.
Is there an account? Can I use it on two phones?
There is no account, and nothing to sign in to. Because there is no server, there is no sync between devices. Moving to a new phone means exporting an encrypted backup and importing it on the other device.
I lost my backup passphrase.
The archive cannot be recovered. It is encrypted with a passphrase only you hold, and there is no copy of it and no reset — that is what makes the backup safe to store anywhere. Keep the passphrase in a password manager.
How accurate is the body-fat figure?
It is an estimate derived from your tape measurements using a published anthropometric formula, and the app labels it as an estimate every time it shows one. It is not a medical measurement and it is not a substitute for advice from a qualified professional. It is most useful as a trend over time — the direction is more reliable than any single figure.
How do I delete everything?
Settings → Erase all data removes every check-in, measurement, photograph, your profile, your goal and all settings, returning the app to how it was on first launch. Uninstalling also removes everything. There is no copy anywhere else, so there is nothing to request from us.
Is there an iPhone version?
No, and there is not one in testing. dat.form is Android only at the moment.
Privacy
The full policy is at datspire.com/privacy. The short version: everything stays on your phone, and this version of the app has no internet permission at all.
